100 Enrolled as Advocates

At least 100 advocates were on Monday (September 30, 2019) enrolled at the Judiciary Headquarters.

The enrollment ceremony was presided over by the Registrar High Court, HW Tom Chemutai, who represented the Chief Registrar.

Officials from the Law Council and Uganda Law Society who witnessed  the exercise urged the new officers of court to exhibit professionalism at all times.

HW Chemutai congratulated the new advocates upon reaching the landmark in their lives and urged them to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution. He commended parents for witnessing the ceremony. 

Mr Aaron Motooka Bageya, who represented the Secretary Law Council, urged the new advocates to ensure professionalism, observance of ethics and rule of law in work and lifestyle.

He warned them against misleading court, fraudulent conduct and delay in prosecuting matters. He also cautioned them against financial misconduct and fraud in land transactions. Mr Motooka advised them to be innovative and defend the legal profession at all times. 

Uganda Law Society Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Joyce Nalunga Birimumaaso advised the advocates to work ethically within the confines of the law.
